This work has evolved from a consideration of the materiality of photographic practices. These images represent a variety of approaches that explore the idea of surface and depth, tactile and visual space, in the photographic print.
They all utilise camera-less techniques, some associated with the photogram, where light is the fundamental compositional material. They are created in an analogue colour darkroom, according to predetermined guidelines, the element of chance nevertheless plays an important role, and as such, each print is unique.
The prints available here have been re-photographed digitally from the original print and have not been retouched in any way.
