Based on false memories of the "other" New York City, the wild, decaying territory portrayed in 1970s and 1980s cinema, plus the digital simulacra of Grand Theft Auto, I create photo-realistic decaying buildings in miniature and photograph them in contextually surreal compositions. I place the 3D miniature buildings on present-day city streets and exploit angles of perspective and scale to create juxtaposed images in which the miniature buildings become real-time "regressive" architectural interventions in the rapidly gentrifying real-life city. The scenes created are not replicas of specific blocks or neighborhoods; rather the miniature buildings undulate between sculptural objects of fascination and environmental experience generators.
