What is photography? My work is an investigation into the ontological properties of the medium that takes as its starting point the extended line of Germanic philosophical thinking surrounding the formation, perception, and theory of aesthetics, most notably the extended tracts of observation put forth by Goethe, Wittgenstein, and the influential color theories of Josef Albers. This approach has required a sustained exploration and exchange between disciplines, as I have investigated the expanding field of relationships between contemporary modes of research and expression. Originally from the United States, I began my career in New York City in 2003, received a Master's degree in Fine Art from Concordia University in Montréal in 2015, and currently live and work in Hamburg, Germany.
